Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

The Martha Wamae Foundation’s commitment to promoting SRHR education in schools is helping to reduce rates of teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and gender-based violence, creating a safer, more equitable, and healthier future for all. Supporting this initiative is a meaningful way to make a positive impact in the lives of young people and their communities, as the Foundation recognizes the critical importance of SRHR education for young people.

The Foundation’s efforts to promote gender equality, empower young women and girls, and promote human rights are vital for creating more just and inclusive societies. Through their work, the Foundation provides young people with access to accurate information, resources, and support, empowering them to make informed decisions about their bodies and contributing to reducing rates of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. By promoting SRHR education in schools, the Martha Wamae Foundation is making a significant impact on promoting the well-being of young people and their communities.

Why We Take Action

The majority of reproductive health challenges facing adolescents and young women are related to the gap in programming. A significant proportion of young people continue to have incorrect perception or invisibility of their risks to early sexual debut; acquiring sexually transmitted infections, HIV, alcohol, drug and substance abuse as well as negative impact of social media. This suggests a need to promote programs that will reverse this pattern over time including support during the transition of cognitive maturity and limited decision-making capacity as minors.
